St. Patrick Baby: Perfect Clothes for my Perfect Boy

I haven't had a chance to do some shopping for my baby's clothes. Before I could do so, gifts of clothes for my baby started arriving (during his baptism and the the Christmas holidays) from my friends and relatives, enough to fit Kyle until he is 5 months old. I also haven't done research on what good brands to buy for baby's clothes.  I'm on a budget (young mom eh!), so the brands that were endorsed to me by my friends and people from the internet are only for my reference and future wish-list.

One of the brands I've encountered, when I was shopping for my baby, was St. Patrick. When I felt the fabric of their clothes, I fell in love with its softness! But I couldn't not buy it because of budget constraints and the constant reminder, from my mom, to stop buying baby's clothes. Luckily, one of Kyle's titas gave him a set of St. Patrick's onesies! My mom loved it as well. It was so soft and the fabric gave my baby good air-flow through his clothes. Pawisin gaya ko kasi eh! (Sweaty like me!) Also, their sizes fit well for my baby! Others were too small. Maybe my baby is just too big for his age. Still, I love the fact that they have good sizes for my baby!

Because my mom loved it so much, she could not resist buying another set of onesies for Kyle! She bought this very cute design, pictured below!

Don't you just love the caption? I am 100% Breastfed! Oh yes, he is! This good wear for my baby should be shown off to the public!

I also received a set of mittens from Cordlife. I love their mittens because they are a very good fit for Kyle's hands - not too tight or too loose. Plus, it's made from certified organic cotton which does not use  harmful chemicals, so I am assured that it is safe for Kyle who sucks his hands, especially now that he is teething!

I would totally recommend St. Patrick products for your baby! You will particularly love their fabric. Especially since we live in a tropical country, it will give your baby comfort from the extreme heat, comfort to move freely and, above all, you are well assured that their material is safe for baby to wear, lick or suck!

Trending: #BestMemories2012 --> #Start2013Right

First of all, I want to greet everyone a very happy 2013! We may have had many problems and obstacles last 2012 but let us all remember that those experiences will be our stepping stone in making 2013 our year!

To start my 2013 right, let me share to you my photoblog that showcases a collage of pictures of my best memories of 2012!

Don't you just love Instaframe? Does anyone know how I can have a PC program that is equivalent to my Instaframe app?

Finished my internship at Jose Reyes Medical Center and Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center

They gave me so many adventures and a lot of fun memories during my internship!
I can say that they've let me experienced work and play at the same time!

Graduating from this kick ass program.

Oh yes! It's a kick-ass program! I was supposed to shift on my 2nd year but I chose to just experience the suspense, whether I'm gonna pass or not, and the fun of sleepless nights. If not for my friends from AMT and orgs, I would not have survive this program. They provided me comfort, fun and excitement to overcome this obstacle.

Happy and loving relationship with the love of my life, Marve.

Opposites attract, indeed!

Survived morning sickness and had a happy pregnancy, with a supportive family.

I am one of the unfortunates who experienced morning sickness! One word: GRABEEEEE! Haha!
As for my pregnancy, it was superb! I have a wonderful family and friends who've supported me all the way. No wonder my baby is such a very happy baby!

Happy and successful childbirth!

It was also the birth of a happy and loving parents!

Very supportive friends and family!

They came all the way from the comforts of their home and from the province (Raphael!) just to visit me and see my bundle of joy!
Take note: Cardinal Santos was really far from civilization :)

A few weeks after the successful delivery of my baby,

I took and  passed my board exam in spite of the effects of anesthesia, lack of sleep, engorged breasts and the rush to go home and see my little baby.

I never expected to pass and just took the test because it was already paid for. It was such a surprise that I passed my exam, considering I did not have the luxury of studying at home because I was always sleepy and morning sickness got in my way!

Started blogging

I thank my dad for pushing me to make a blog and also, bears the task of editing it!

I shall read more to enhance my creativity and writing skills!

Thank God for Pinterest!

Great high school and college barkada and friends

We may have gone to our own journeys as Medical students, professionals and me, as a mom, but I know that, one day, I can be with them again, doing the craziest things we have done when we were in college!

Lastly, a loving and stronger family!

Oh wait!!!

I am so much blessed with a very happy, loving and handsome baby boy!

Hi Kyle!

I don't have New Year's resolutions.....  because it never gets done but I do have goals for this year!

  • Put up a business this very year! I must apply Feng Shui in my plans and, hopefully, I can do business with my girls. Clue: Valentine's day movie
  • Make Marve take his board exams. He wasn't able to take it last year to give way for my childbirth and my board exams.
My inspiration!

  • Bring back my sexy body!
  • Breastfeed my son exclusively until or over his 1st birthday
  • Learn how to cook like Marve!
  • Plan my son's first birthday like a boss!
  • Clean and organize the whole house and make it a baby-proof
  • Go back to dance class - Pamanadanse has it's first ever privately-owned dance studio! Kudos Wally! I'm so proud of you
  • Be able to make an organized grocery list and schedule of maintenance of the whole house
  • Hopefully, be able to do my Mighty Bucket List

My Baby's First Christmas!

I'm so in love with Christmas! Last year was my first and, hopefully, my last Christmas that I wasn't able to spend with my family.  I was then on duty at AFPMC and I really felt lonely that time because I missed them so much. It was also during that time that I've found out I was pregnant and I was having stomach problems and couldn't eat with my colleagues because of the "morning sickness" that is part and parcel of pregnancy. That's when I realized the importance of Christmas with your family! Marve isn't a Catholic but he was more than willing to spend Christmas with all of us this year just to make me happy! Besides, it's Kyle's first Christmas!

We weren't able to celebrate our Christmas Eve dinner with the Layug family because most were spending it in Lucena City (Quezon) but my Tita Salve, who didn't join them, together with Tita Pinky, joined us in our celebration!  My Ninong Mark and Ninang Nenette, together with my cousins Miguel and Matthew, were also with us.

Every holiday, my grandpa would insist of having a family picture taken with him. I, being the life of the party,  managed to control the excitement of opening our gifts by calling on all of them to gather around grandpa and have the family picture taken before anything else!

 All of us!
As usual, Kyle being the voracious little boy of the family, had his right hand in his mouth!

Lolo with his not-so-little grandchildren and the little great-grandchild

Two of our maids, the first two on the left, will be spending their last Christmas with us this year so I made sure that they were included in the picture. The first will continue her studies while the other one is getting married! I wish them both the best of luck!

 My new family with Lolo!

I love my Mama's face here! Happily opening our gift for Lolo!

The two new Lolas going crazy with their apo!

Marve is always lucky to have his Father and Son picture with Kyle! I will have to teach him how to use my camera so that I can also have my Mother and Son pictures!
Kyle having fun with his Lola (ooops! Tita) Nenette!

But wait, there's more! Haha!

Some of the pictures I took with my phone just before the dinner!

Woke up seeing this expression from my baby! He was overloaded with so much love from Lola!

Family picture!
Look at my foot! -Kyle

My baby is so happy! Probably excited for his first Christmas!
I have to post this picture even with the big braso! I rarely have Mother and Son pictures with my baby! Booya! I must really teach Marve to take pictures using my camera!

Happy holidays everyone! Let us all be thankful with all of our blessings and abuse this season to be with our families!

Why I love shopping at SM Supermalls... Breastfeeding stations!

Just last week, Kyle had his first mall tour at the Glorietta! Another yay moment for me! Before, I couldn't just bring him to crowded places because we still haven't given him any vaccines yet... Will explain why soon but Marve and I took the risk of bringing him to the mall -- we believe he can also build his immune system by also exposing him . Since the whole Ayala Center was crowded, we decided to just shop at a place with everything we needed -- clothes, groceries, housekeeping materials, baby stuff and shoes for me - so we decided to just go to SM (Shoemart) to avoid the monstrous crowd in Ayala.

I just wore something casual. Something... that can show a lot if and when I had to bring out my breast to feed Kyle. I thought we would be going home right after my check-up and, as such, did not even bring a nursing top.   The situation was, therefore, pretty challenging for me. The solution  - find a private area in case Kyle gets hungry. Well, I do remember seeing posters around SM advertising breastfeeding stations within the mall so we decided to give it a try.

For directions, we asked the guards around the mall and they were very accommodating in directing us to one at the 4th floor. As we brought the stroller with us, we had to find an elevator to get to our desired floor.

The SM Makati Breastfeeding Station is located at the 4th floor, beside the restrooms and near the SM Appliances Store.

Lucky for us, there were no mothers inside the station so Marve was able to accompany Kyle and me! Yay! However, in the event that there are other breastfeeding mothers inside, the station does not have chairs outside for waiting dads.

Just look for this logo at the door!

As seen below, the station has a...

Diaper-changing table
Hi Marve!

Sink and hand-dryer.

A very spacious area.
You can also park your stroller beside the sofa.
They should add more sofas, especially for mom's who brought their kid's yayas along with them. As such, only 2 people can fit in their sofa.  What if  there's more?

Finally, I'm full! - said the happy Kyle

Total fail family picture! I was hoping to capture the three of us together through the mirror! I guess I was too excited and shaky.

As for the cleanliness, I was quite impressed with this station.  However, I've heard that other SM breastfeeding stations, in other SM malls, were quite dirty and stink but others have improved a great deal. Oh well.. I've heard that only SM Supermalls have provided breastfeeding stations, so they deserve to be commended. I just hope other malls, like Ayala and Robinsons, will do the same thing. Today, a lot of mothers are switching to breastfeeding because of its inherent health benefits for the baby.  As such, they will really need these kind of services when they go to the malls. These stations will be really helpful for moms and their babies who want comfort while breastfeeding.  Here, they also get to avoid those big-eyed stares that they get from people who are not used to seeing breastfeeding mothers!

Hangover: Ballet Philippines' Rama Hari

Photos courtesy of Victor Ursabia (with watermarks) - CCP Dance School Director and Ballet Master of Ballet Philippines and from BP's alumni Jojo Mamangun

For almost 8 years, my Mom and I have always been a subscriber and fan of Ballet Philippines and, for the first time, I've never felt this kind of hangover over their production. For me, it was the most memorable production I've ever witnessed.

Rama Hari is a hit pop ballet musical based on the Indian epic Ramayana. I am familiar with this epic because we studied it during our literature class in High School so it was easier for me to explain and answer my mom's questions. This show was performed by Ballet Philippines for 32 years and was performed by famous dancers and theater artists of our time. It was a very special show because it featured amazing collaborations of work done by the best Filipino artists including National Artists! It was choreographed by Ballet Philippines' founder Alice Reyes, the ballet musical was set to the music of maestro Ryan Cayabyab, while National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera wrote the libretto and National Artist for Theater Design Salvador Bernal did the set and costume design. Source: Ballet Philippines

A few days before the show, I saw tweets from different celebrities and personalities who were so amazed with Rama Hari. I think some of them were newly exposed to these kind of shows and they became a fan of the arts after watching. I also saw pictures from Sir Victor Facebook account so I had an overview of the production. Everyday before the show, I became more and more excited to watch it with my Mom. Even with Marve's offer to be my plus one on the show, I still insisted in bringing my mom with me because I know this will be a perfect show to watch with her. We even exchanged our tickets and paid for an additional Php800 for the 6pm show because Karylle, Christian Bautista and Robert Sena were performing on that show. Casting Christian, Karylle and Robert Sena all together -guarantees an amazing show!

When we went inside the theater, we saw a lot of celebrities and personalities even in the row we were seated in! I guess there was a viral spread of praises about the show. We saw how big the stage was -- it was elevated and we saw a orchestra downstage (yay for live music!) so we felt so much excited for the show to begin because it was so magnificent! Yay!

I only posted pictures here that I believed is almost the same as the show that I've watched last Saturday.

Katherine Trofeo as Sita and Richardson Yadao as Rama

 Robert Sena as Ravana!

My friend Dani introduced him to me when I was watching him at BP's past production of Tales of Manuvu. I was so much in-love with his talent and I was happy to see him perform again! My mom is a big fan of him as well. She gave me a brief background about him while watching... not knowing I saw him perform before and -- he is also my friend at Facebook.

How I wish my son would be as good as him if he does decide to be a artist/performer! Amazing voice! I will have to invest on music lessons for him!

I still have a hangover with the song Awit ng Pagsinta which included Sir Robert's powerful voice!
Plus.. there is another reason for me to be ecstatic.. Scroll down at the final part of this blog.

Rita Winder (dancer) and Amparo Sietereales as Soorpanakha

During the show, my mom and I were both amazed with Winder's versatility when it came to dancing and acting! At first we thought she was a gay/guy dancer (well gay perfomers are known to be very versatile) because she was so kwela/funny especially with her facial expressions and moves! We only realized she was a girl during the scene where Soorpanakha was mutilated! Great acting! Galing! Pwede na pang-theater artist!

Brezhnev Larlar as Hanuman. You know what? He was a Ballet Philippines' dancer turned musical theater artist! He has a powerful voice! Kainggit! I wish to be a theater artist before, but I've heard I'm out of tune! Haha! Pang - dancer nalang talaga ako!

Gintong Usa. I'm not sure who the dancer is in this picture but I think it was Denise Parungao who danced this role in the show.
I love the costume! It is very attractive onstage and it defines and lengthens every developes and arabesque that the dancer does! -- and it looks very expensive too!

All I heard from the children in front of me... Ang galing ng mga monkeys! Wohooo! and the adults..  Nakakatuwa! Nakakaaliw!

Final Scene
See how beautiful the stage is and also the props! You can see that they've worked hard on it and they were very keen in every element of the production! Bravo! Money spent on the production tickets were totally worth it!

Standing Ovation from the Audience! (Photo from Sir Victor)

People were so excited to stand up and praise the cast when they did their final bow. Ang galing talaga kasi! Sobra!

The cast for their photo-ops and autograph signing

The place was really crowded so I did not have the chance to get autographs except with Robert Sena! I even saw girls who went gaga over a celebrity beside me (whom I do not know as I have not seen him on TV). It was like I'm attending a concert wherein people were pushing to get the performers' (esp. Karylle and Christian) autograph! I felt like I've watched the great Phantom of the Opera. I didn't have the chance to watch it but I've heard from my friends that they also went gaga with the cast!

Other tidbits of photos

with the Great Robert Sena!
 FAN GIRL MOMENT.
&MY ECSTATIC MOMENT. Sir Robert did actually recognized me and remembered my baby. Mama was really in shock when he mentioned Kyle! She was really amazed with  Sena's memory! He must have seen all the photos of Kyle in his newsfeed. Kyle almost filled up my whole timeline! (Gosh Kyle! Strike two! You are more popular than me!)
If Kyle wishes to be a performer, I wish he would be as good as Robert Sena!

If not for the no-under-3-year-old rule in the theater, I would love to bring Kyle (he is well behaved in crowded areas) to witness Sir Robert and see how memorable Rama Hari is! I want him exposed to the arts as young as possible!

I will definitely see you again Sir!

Gaaaaah! This show made me regret that I did not push myself to take dance classes when I was I kid. I was kinda tomboyish when I was young so I dislike wearing tutus. I promise that when I will have a daughter (NOT NOW! but maybe in the near-future), I will really push her to attend dance classes and practice at home so that she can also be part of this magnificent production. I would be so proud when that happens! Well, I would have been prouder of myself if I was performing with the stars!

I would like to share the video below. I was having a hangover with Awit ng Pagsinta so I searched it at YouTube!

I noticed that Robert Sena also portrayed Ravana at this production. I will have to upload all the videos and see it for myself!

Another Rama Hari performance pleaaassseeeee!
